19 Alarm Chili


INGREDIENTS
  1. 1 #10 can tomato purée
  2. 1 #10 can whole peeled tomatoes, chopped
  3. 6 pounds good ground beef
  4. 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  5. 1/2 cup commercial chili powder
  6. 3 tablespoons whole oregano leaves
  7. 1 #10 can red kidney beans, drained
  8. Salt and pepper, to taste
  9. Toppings
  10. Cheddar cheese, grated
  11. Sour cream
  12. Yellow onions, peeled and diced
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large pot bring the tomato purée and whole tomatoes to a slow boil.
  2. While this is heating, brown the ground beef with chopped onion.
  3. Add this to the tomato mixture.
  4. Add chili powder and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Add oregano, salt and pepper to taste and simmer 15 minutes.
  6. Add kidney beans and simmer 30 minutes.
